   Proposal Description:
   Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has provided insight into the structural changes of the brain in studies of Alzheimer's and other dementing diseases however, the expense and logistics of MRI acquisition has precluded many large studies of aging from including an MRI component. In 2011, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) appointed an Imaging Subcommittee of the Alzheimer's Disease Centers  (ADC) Clinical Task Force (CTF) to assess the feasibility of a shared imaging resource at the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center (NACC). The committee recommended that ADCs voluntarily submit T1-weighted, FLAIR, and diffusion MRIs on subjects enrolled in the Uniform Data Set (UDS), and MRI data collection began at NACC in 2013. The NACC MRI Database is a large, freely available sample of MRIs that are linked to the rich, standardized UDS and NP data, as well as genotype data from ADGC.
